This video teaches how to help a baby learn to weight shift and balance to kick a ball with hand support. My name is Amy Sturkey, PT. I am a pediatric physical therapist in the United States. I would like to give some ideas to families who have a baby with developmental delay. This video teaches a simple technique on how to help your baby learn to kick a ball while working on weight shift and rudimentary static balance. This technique can be used with any child with a developmental delay that cannot kick independently. This video is only appropriate for children who can already stand with 2 hands held. This is not appropriate for a much weaker child than the one featured in this video. I hope you find this idea useful and simple to move forward.
My website is www.pediatricPTexercises.com. My Facebook page is Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises. My informational books, "A is for Autism," "C is for Cerebral Palsy," "D is for Down Syndrome," "Pediatric Physical Therapy Strengthening Exercises for the Hips" and "Pediatric Physical Therapy Strengthening Exercises for the Knees" are available on Amazon. "A is for ADHD" should be available shortly. Do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] with questions, concerns or favorable reviews! Please note I am unable to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated.
