New From Lollar Pickups: Dogear DC-90 and Staple P-90

In response to continued customer demand, Lollar Pickups is excited to announce new Dogear mounting options for our popular DC-90 and Staple P-90 pickups.

Based on the popular Lollar DC-90 and Staple P-90 designs, the new offerings make these sought-after sounds available to a much broader range of players. Now those with Les Paul Juniors, ES-330s, Casinos and more can get the same tones that have long been available to players with Soapbar-equipped instruments.

The DC-90 is Lollar’s take on a hum-cancelling P-90 pickup. It’s a true humbucker, with a pair of coils designed to offer the classic sound you’d expect from a P-90 style pickup – just without all the noise and hum that is usually associated with P-90s. Bright, snappy, clear, and with plenty of grind to cut through a mix, or smooth and creamy when you roll the tone back some. The offset 3x3 pole screws offer a distinct aesthetic, with the other 6 (also 3x3) slugs hiding beneath the cover.

The Lollar Staple P-90 is a spin on the Staple P-90 found in the neck position of some old Gibson Les Paul guitars from the mid-1950s, which – as rumor has it – were the result of Les’ tinkering in pursuit of additional clarity and top end from P-90 style pickups. It delivers a brighter and more articulate top end while retaining the characteristic P-90 sound as its foundation. Unlike the vintage Staple P-90, the fixed poles require no adjustment.

Both the DC-90 and Staple P-90 are available now in gloss or matte black as well as gloss or matte cream in the most common height, medium. And, since Dogear pickups are not themselves adjustable like some other pickup designs, we offer shims to allow for raising the pickup to the optimal height for your specific needs.

Gear used in this demo: 1963 Gibson Les Paul SG Junior; Lollar Overdrive pedal; Benson Delay pedal; 1966 Fender Vibrolux Reverb, Vibrato channel, input 1, reverb set to ~ 3.
