Speakers:
Nicholas J. Deml – Commissioner (Ret.), Vermont Department of Corrections
Biography: Nicholas J. Deml is the Managing Director of the boutique advisory and consulting firm Everly Bly & Co. He established the firm after serving four years as the commissioner of the Vermont Department of Corrections, where he led an agency responsible for all individuals who are detained and sentenced and all aspects of community supervision in Vermont. Nick is an active member of the Council on Criminal Justice (CCJ) and previously served as the Correctional Leaders Association’s (CLA) Treasurer and Chair of the Restrictive Housing Committee. Prior to his work in corrections, Nick served as a clandestine service intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency. He also served as an attorney and as an aide to U.S. Senator Dick Durbin on the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary – Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Human Rights and on the national security staff in the Office of the Assistant Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate. Nick received his JD from Marquette University Law School and BA in political science from Southern Illinois University.
Steven White – CISO, Missouri State Highway Patrol
Biography: Mr. White graduated from the University of Missouri – Rolla in 1992 with an Electrical Engineering degree. In 2006, Mr. White graduated from the University of Missouri – Rolla with a MS degree in Information Systems and Technologies. Mr. White has worked in various information technology positions throughout his 30-year career. Currently Mr. White is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)/Assistant Director for Cyber Security and Infrastructure at Criminal Justice Information Services Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol where he oversees the infrastructure, security, and technical support sections.
