Learn how to perform a one-way Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) simulation in ANSYS Workbench using Fluent (CFD) and Static Structural.
In this tutorial, we simulate a simple plate inside a channel flow, where the fluid pressure from Fluent is transferred to Static Structural to calculate stresses and deformation. This is a one-way FSI analysis, meaning the structural deformation does not feed back into the fluid domain.
🔹 What you’ll learn:
How to set up a channel flow in Fluent (steady-state CFD).
How to define boundary conditions (velocity inlet, pressure outlet, no-slip walls).
How to transfer fluid pressure loads from Fluent to Static Structural.
How to analyze deformation and stresses in the plate using Static Structural.
Difference between one-way FSI and two-way FSI in ANSYS.
This tutorial is perfect for beginners in ANSYS Workbench who want to understand the basics of CFD–Structural coupling.
