—— ABOUT THE TRAIN——

This is a long-distance passenger train consisting of four coaches (class 5) and one restaurant car (FR5-1). The night trains have two sleeper cars (WLAB2) in addition. You can see an oncoming night train at 0:04:51.

—— HIGHLIGHTS ——

0:33:57 - Passing the famous Hell station. The station building and the ‘Gods Expedition’ are on The right hand side.

2:18:01 - From Sunnan to Jørstad we get 20 minutes of beautiful scenery along Snåsavatnet, Norway's sixth largest lake.

3:02:48 - The journey along the Luru river offers wild and beautiful nature. There are quite a few tunnels here, but you still get a few glimpses of the river.

3:19:11 - Lovely view from the bridge as we cross the river Namsen at Bunes just north of Grong. From here, the Nordlandsbanen follows the river for about an hour.

4:22:50 - At Smalåsen we cross the county border from Trøndelag to Nordland, and thus enter Northern Norway.

5:07:55 - Trolldalen viaduct has ten spans, is 175 meters long and 40 meters high. It was built according to the same principle as the Eiffel Tower and was opened in 1938.

7:48:55 - Crossing the Arctic Circle at 680 masl at the mountain Saltfjellet.

8:04:06 - The descent from Lønsdal at the mountain Saltfjellet, where the railway line runs on a shelf high above the valley, is sceneric and remarkable.

8:48:18 - We drive all the way down by the boulders along the Saltdalsfjorden.
