Carlos do Carmo performing "Uma Flor de Verde Pinho" ("A Green-Pine Flower"), the Portuguese entry at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest.
Quite like Greece that year, Portugal also sent one of their legendary folk singers (in this case, "fado" performer Carlos do Carmo) and a melancholic song with political undertones (the song's seeming love lyrics could easily be addressed to Portugal in general) that was far from a typical ESC entry, and was cruelly punished in the voting for that. Shame on them really, since, while not a masterpiece, this song has its own unique beauty, also benefitting from a great intro and an AMAZING performance by Senhor do Carmo (read more about him at http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=...|DO|CARMO&sql=11:d9fuxqlhldte~T1)
