"Igra mi se..." is an Yugoslav patriotic song dedicated to Yugoslav republics. The singer is expressing a wish to sing, dance or play with members of Yugoslav nationalities. Each nationality is mentioned indirectly through a traditional connotation, geographical location and a historically important citizen.
Song starts with Montenegro, where the singer mentions he wants to play a traditional dance called Kolo, next to Lovčen mountain, with the descendants of Petar the 2nd Petrović Njegoš - the greatest Montenegrin writer and ruler.
Next is the Croatia, mentioned through Zagorje (northern part of the country, where Tito was born) and Ljudevit Gaj - a lead figure of Croatian Revival Movement (later Illyrian Revival Movement).
Slovenia is described by Polka dance, Triglav mountain (the highest mountain in Slovenia), and Slovene poet France Prešeren.
The singer wants to sing a Sevdalinka (traditional genre of Bosnian music) with people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the Kozara mountain (known for the Battle of Kozara in WW2). People of Bosnia and Herzegovina are mentioned as descendants of Bosnian writer Petar Kočić.
Serbia is geographically described with Šumadija (central part of Serbia), colorful traditional vests and Vuk Karadžić - a Serbian linguist.
Macedonia is the only country where the song changes rhythm and pace to suit the traditional dance of Oro. The singer wants to dance with Macedonians next to Vardar river, and calls them the descendants of a Rasimov. We cannot find the exact source on who Rasimov exactly is, but the best match would be Enver Rasimov - a traditional music singer from Macedonia.
