THE CANALS ARE CLOSING! IT'S NOW OR NEVER ON Narrowboat MAJESTIC! - 576

Today we're back on Narrowboat Majestic, after driving back down here the previous night. Dad has now gone back to work, so it's just me, Mum and Roger now! We have a very optimistic goal to get from Marsworth all the way to the bottom of Stoke Bruerne flight, some 25 miles and 35 locks! Yeah, I don't think we're doing that! As things are not off to a good start, when we come across a very low pound in the Marsworth flight, and because Majestic is a very heavy and deep boat, we get grounded! So we need to bring down more water from the previous pound in order to have enough water to get to the next lock. In the end, it takes an hour to go a few hundred yards! But then we got the "email"! from the CRT! This email essentially said that due to the extreme lack of rain, the Grand Union, Oxford, and Coventry canals will all be closed! In a weeks time! So if there wasn't already enough pressure, we now have this! So it's now a race against time! We eventually end up somewhere in Milton Keynes, cruising in the dark! When it gets to the point that i can't see anything anymore, we moor up, after a 14-hour day of cruising!
