It’s an interesting song. Its lyrics is a metaphor of an impossible promise, and a beautiful, yet doomed romance.
The song is about the story of a bird and a cicada. They met in the summer and spent the wonderful season together. Then, making a wish into an empty bottle, the bird realized that autumn was approaching and it was time to leave. It told the cicada, “I’m leaving now. I’ll come see you next summer. But if I can’t meet you on time next summer. I’ll appear in the fifth season, which begins in the thirteenth month. You must appear then.” The bird flew away, proudly soaring far away, unaware that the cicada’s life would end with the summer. They each went to a different world. The bird didn’t know that human time has no fifth season, no thirteenth month, that they would never meet again.
