The trek to Tungnath Temple is a popular trek in Uttarakhand. The topmost peak of Tungnath temple is called Chandrashila. Tungnath to Chandrashila is a steep trek of 1-1.5 km. There are many mythological stories associated with Chandrashila. According to one legend, Lord Rama meditated here, according to another legend moon god Chandra meditated on Chandrashila to get rid of the curse of King Daksha, and for this reason this peak was named Chandrashila. When you finally reach Chandrashila after climbing one and a half kilometers from Tungnath temple, the magical views from here make all your tiredness disappear. From Chandrashila you can see Himalayan peaks like Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, Satopanth, Dunagiri, Kalanka, Bhagirathi, Jogin, Chaukhamba etc.
