Today I face off against Fred's Downtown Philly's 6lb (96oz) "Liberty Bell' Philly Cheesesteak Challenge!
In the last episode for my Oklahoma/Texas trip, I'm in city of Plano, at Fred's Downtown Philly. The restaurant is a family-friendly spot known for bringing authentic Philadelphia-style cheesesteaks to the Lone Star State. Founded by the hands-on owner Fred Walker over 25 years ago, this local favorite serves made-to-order sandwiches, like thin-sliced ribeye, grilled onions, and melted cheese on a toasted hoagie, plus a variety of specialty subs, burgers, wings, egg-rolls, sides, and unique menu twists that keep people coming back. Locals rave about the inviting atmosphere, quality food, and standout items like their pepper cheesesteaks and spicy mozzarella sticks, making Fred’s a must-visit for anyone craving a Philly experience in the land of Texas.

The "Liberty Bell" Challenge features a 6lb sandwich built around a 2-foot-long authentic Philly cheesesteak. It’s loaded with over 60 oz of thin-sliced ribeye steak, grilled onions, and a full pound of melted cheese, all served on a proper toasted hoagie roll. On the side, you’ll also get a pound of their golden fries. You have one hour to finish everything, complete it in time and the $86 meal is free, plus you earn a photo on their Wall of Fame.
