There was a bit of a heat wave while I was out here so I spent 4 days instead of the 6 or 7 days I originally intended. It was a little over 90 degrees F every day and I just wanted to be out of the sun, so I stayed in canyons with flowing water instead of an epic cross country route that I had planned.
That said, I still got to explore some pretty cool spots including Kitchen Canyon Falls, Starlight Canyon Narrows, a scramble hike up to see a close-up view of Mollies Nipple, the quick-sandy Deer Creek Canyon with its white walls and sugarloaf slick rock features up top, and a little bit of the overgrown and challenging Hogeye Canyon - which I only went into a short ways. I also found a bunch of cowboy glyphs and pictographs. The Paria River itself is a bit of a slog; the walking is pretty fast but you're exposed to sun for most of the day. I'll come back when it isn't so hot out to do the big up-top cross country trip I originally set out to do. Thanks for watching!
