I finally got Manisha to Gujarat and took her to Uttarayan - India's incredible Kite Festival. You won't believe how Gujaratis celebrate festivals! They go all out and it's fantastic fun.

Uttarayan in Vadodara is the best example of a kite festival I've ever seen. The day started off slow with Gujarati food then ends with a spectacular display of thousands of kites, lanterns, and fireworks. These cover the entire city sky.

Manisha and I are looking forward to returning for Navaratri and Garba.

Uttarayan is the yearly kite festival held in Gujarat to celebrate the first day of summer. It's a harvest festival for farmers and it's celebrated across India under different names (Lohri, Pongal, Uttarayan).
