Standing 173 meters tall, the Umeda Sky Building features two towers connected by the Floating Garden Observatory (Kuchu Teien) on the 39th and 40th floors, with an open-air rooftop offering a 360° view of Osaka’s skyline. From here, you can see the city stretch out beneath the cold winter sky — and if you’re lucky, catch a few snow flurries drifting through the air.

We’ll explore the floating escalators, Sky Garden, and the rooftop observatory, capturing the beauty of Osaka in winter from day to night.

-The Floating Garden Observatory (Kuchu Teien) spans the 39th and 40th floors + the open rooftop (often called the “Sky Walk”)
-On the 39th floor: this is where the ticket counter, shops, entry to observatory are located.
-On the 40th floor: includes Café SKY 40 (with counter seats giving a “floating sensation”) and part of the indoor observatory space.
-The rooftop / open-air deck (RF / Sky Walk): the actual open-air observation deck that gives 360° views.
