This is a 1960's turntable with a continuously variable speed control. That was Metzger's deal. The motor shaft has a conical capstan, which slides up and down the platter drive gearbox. I replicated the platen labeling. I put green felt on the platter because its green felt. Rek-O-Kut tonearm. Handmade plinth. The horrible thing about restoring and collecting old turntables is how hard it is to sell them, so they just keep piling up. Buyers of vintage turntables absurdly expect every one of them to perform like a Technics MK1200. And shipping them to arrive intact is crazy. You should remove the platter and the tonearm and pack them separately. Then the clueless buyer screws the thing up. by reassembling it. Enough, I practically gave away my last few restoratIons. One buyer damaged the crap out of it just by driving it home. think this video was made to prove that the strobe works and to demo its speed variation.
