Shared cabs is never the fastest way. Best depends on various parameters.
Most convenient and fastest way is to hire a exclusive cab which would charge you around 3000/- or so. However if you want to travel cheap, NJP - Pelling direct shared cabs are available, but very few (costs around Rs. 300/- - Rs. 350/- per pax). Else if you can't find one, you may break at Jorethang (around Rs. 150/- - 200/-) and then direct to Pelling (around Rs. 150/-) from there.
Pelling is a small town in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, at the foothills of Mount Khangchendzonga. The late-17th-century Buddhist Sanga Choling Monastery has mountain views. Pemayangtse Monastery features wall paintings, sculptures and a gold-plated statue of Guru Padsambhava. Overlooking a valley, the 17th-century Rabdentse Palace, now in ruins, still has evidence of the king’s bedroom and kitchen.
