Here, the person leading the plea recognises God's interventions, power, and omnipresence and humbly pleads with God to be with him even in the darkest moments of his life. He further asks God to bless in a reference to Jacob's wrestling with the angel of God for blessing as recorded in Genesis 32:22-26.
