Student stories - Hannah's journey at Treloar's

Treloar’s is a School and a College based in Hampshire providing education for extraordinary, full-of-potential disabled young people and adults. Every young person deserves an education which sets them up for life, but sadly, face many challenges in receiving that education. At Treloar’s, we look beyond the disability to help our students fulfil their potential.

We set out to create short student stories, each with an aim of creating an opportunity for young disabled people to present themselves as individuals, encompassing their identity as a disabled person, but also showing that they are so much more than their disability. We wanted to give Hannah the chance to tell her own story.

In this film, Hannah tells us about how her life has changed since joining Treloar College. Hannah is thriving at Treloar's, after attending in a mainstream school which wasn't right for her. Since arriving at Treloar's her life has turned around. She is currently undertaking a Supported Internship. We meet Hannah in the Employability and Vocational College classroom and see how an idea in a digital skills class turned into a real-life student-led enterprise. Since making this film, the 'Let me in' project has been nominated for the TES Tim Brighouse award for community engagement.
