➡️ If a thrash metal band and a ska band walked into a bar and started jamming in a minor key, “Shoot the Moon” is probably what would happen. This track lives in a surprisingly brooding place—swimming in chromatic horn lines, high-speed double tonguing, and dark minor key riffs that sound like Diamond Head sat in with a ska band on Halloween. In this video, I unpack the theory behind their "sinister" tonality, the technical demands on the horn players, the bass line’s role in introducing subtle chromaticism, and how they somehow make minor keys sound so fun. It’s a weird flavor of ska… and I’m absolutely here for it.
