Before mega-festivals and global EDM superstars, there was a hidden kingdom of sound on the south coast of England. Perched quietly on a hill above Worthing, Sterns Nightclub became one of the most legendary — and mysterious — venues in the history of the UK rave scene.
Known to many as "The House on the Hill," Sterns was more than a nightclub. It was a pilgrimage site for ravers in the late 80s and early 90s. Multiple floors, maze-like rooms, and pounding beats from DJs like Carl Cox, Grooverider, and DJ Sy — Sterns offered an experience like no other. People came from all over the UK to dance, to lose themselves, and to be part of something underground yet electric.
But time moved on. The music faded. The scene changed. And Sterns — like so many icons of rave culture — quietly disappeared from the map.
In this episode, we travel back — not just physically, but emotionally — to explore what remains of that mythic place. We take a walk through Highdown Gardens, a beautiful and tranquil spot that now rests above where the nightclub once stood. Among the flowers, trees, and winding paths, the echoes of basslines and laughter still feel strangely present.
This is a story about memory, music, and transformation. It’s about how spaces change… and how some legacies refuse to die.
Whether you were there at Sterns back in the day, or you're just discovering its legacy now, this vlog is a tribute to the spirit of that hill — past and present.
