Throwback Thursday | Benevolence | Word of the Year from 2019

In late 2024 I discovered I had a handful of pieces I had video footage of. I thought I’d share them in 2025 as a limited series. A sneak peek into my growth as an artist. Part of me cringes to share some of these pieces as it was during a time when I was still trying to discover my process and style. I hope you enjoy this look back.
It’s been so long since I created this piece that I won’t be sharing my thought process during its creation. I will interject when I have some recall as to what was happening or to clarify what I’m doing.
Also, I think it needs to be said that the quality of the footage is not up to my current standard. This was filmed in 2019 just as I started my channel.
A bit of history regarding Benevolence. It was for my 2019 word of the year, which I originally planned on using in an art journal but mounted it to a cradle board instead. I did find a bit I wrote up about the making of this “page” It read…
“What a Doozer of a word. When I geared up to do this journal page, I only
knew two things…I wanted lots of text that was visible, and I wanted to use
Paynes Grey. This left lots of room for intuitive inspiration.”
