Let's use an iPad with music apps, a small MIDI controller and a field recorder to make some dreamwave ambient music outdoors, in the garden!
I'll record the environmental sounds using a Roland R-05 stereo digital recorder and on the iPad I'll use Cubasis as my DAW. The synths I'll be using are the following: Moog Animoog Z, Hammerhead, Laplace, Synclavier Go! and ID700 which is based on the Buchla 700. The main effects will be Other Desert Cities delay, FAC Chorus and Tone Boosters Reverb. Then I'll continue working on the project in the studio computer using Cubase to do the final arrangements, mixing and processing. Softube's Tape, Izotope's Ozone Compressors and Native Instrument's Varicomp will give the final touch.
In this tutorial I’ll guide you through my whole process and techniques so stick around till the end of the video to discover the making of the piece as you listen to the atmospheric music!
