International touring musician, songwriter, performer, and UU lay preacher Joe Jencks will explore some ideas from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s childhood, and how these ideas relate to our lives in the present. The tacit invitation in King’s own vision was to reject much of the potential toxicity of nostalgia, and to see that we have not only the opportunity but the obligation to help build a different future. In our individual relationships, in our families and workplace, in our spiritual communities, and in our civic society - how do we make the soil ready for the seeds of change? Through music, narrative, and ideas about meaningful growth, Joe Jencks weaves a thoughtful tapestry of hope, and invites us into both reflection and action.
