1940's Mukbang Sausage Rolls!

💡 Recipe:

1940's flaky pastry:
1/2 lb flour
3-4 oz of margarine or lard or 3-4 oz of dripping
Pinch of salt
Cold water

Method
Mix flour and salt together, rub in the shortening and mix to stiff dough with cold water. Use immediately.

In modern day cool your pastry in the refrigerator for at least 30mins - 1 hour before rolling out.

1940's sausage rolls:
Sausage meat
Shortcrust or flaky pastry
Pepper and salt
Reconstitued egg (or 1 actual egg!)

Method
Roll out pastry and cut into small oblongs, on each; place a piece of sausage meat, season with pepper and salt. Fold the pastry over sausage, glaze with egg wash. Bake on gas mark 6 for 20-25 minutes depending on the size of rolls.

Side note cut slits into the pastry to help it expand when baking.
