When I was young, I mistaken it was peach. No! It’s Sour eggplant -
Terung Dayak or Terung asam is one of the eggplant family. They are members of the nightshade family, related to tomatoes, peppers, and are mainly found in Southeastern Asia. It grows in the wild. But now the Dayak people plant it and harvest it from their paddy fields. It’s usually green, and it turns yellow once it is ripe.

Terung Dayak 或 Terung asam 是茄子家族之一。它们是茄科的成员,与西红柿、辣椒有关,主要分布在东南亚。它属于野生植物。但是现在达雅人把它种植在稻田边。还没熟是绿色的,一旦成熟就会变成金黄色。
Ingredients 材料:
1 Terung Dayak (sour eggplant )达雅茄
2-3 lemongrass 香茅
2-3 chillies 辣椒
400-500ml water 水
4 tbsp oil 油
2-3 mackerel fish or Yellowtail scad 鲭鱼或色拉鱼
Or alternatively can substitute with chicken or mushroom
或也可以代用鸡肉或蘑菇
1-2tbsp tamarind paste 罗望子酱
2-3 tbsp fish sauce 鱼露
or can substitute with half tablespoon of salt
或可以代用半汤匙盐
