When you're recording multitrack on e.g. the Rødecaster, and you want to import it into Audition for editing, there's an easy way to split all microphones onto it's own lane. Just press ALT when dragging the file onto your timeline.
Why would you want to do this? Well, especially if you're going to send your project to audio post production (please do so for professional podcasts and stuff), they want to keep control of each recorded microphone individually. If you didn't split the multitrack file onto separate lanes, but kept it as a multitrack on one lane, and then started editing - your post-production guy/girl can't split them afterwards in Audition (at least that function doesn't exist yet). There are workarounds afterwards, but they're super time-consuming (aka expensive for you, my friend).
