SPECIAL OPERATIONS MH-47G CHINOOK 160th SOAR NIGHT STALKERS (AIRBORNE) USASOC • RAF MILDENHALL

This is extremely rare, a special operations Boeing MH-47G variant of the CH-47 Chinook. It is a multi-role, heavy-lift helicopter in service with the US Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOC) and here at RAF Mildenhall with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) 160th SOAR (A), nicknamed the Night Stalkers.

This is not your usual Chinook. Just look at the colour scheme, a morbid dark shade with its threatening (but harmless) and imposing bayonet style refuelling probe. Day or night, this MH-47G is there when you need it the most. From low-level, heavy lift missions, transporting troops, ammo, vehicles, equipment and humanitarian missions no matter what the weather throws at it.

It has some cool mods such as self protection survival upgrades, avionics and the added refuelling probe, as which have been highly modified for special operations. If you are carrying Special Forces, you'll need Fast Rope Insertion Extraction System (FRIES), powered hoists, Special Patrol Insertion and Extraction System (SPIES), location systems.

The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), abbreviated as 160th SOAR (A), is a special operations force of the United States Army that provides helicopter aviation support for special operations forces. Its missions have included attack, assault, and reconnaissance, and these missions are usually conducted at night, at high speeds, low altitudes, and on short notice.

They are nicknamed the Night Stalkers and are headquartered at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
