In this tutorial, I’m showing you how to root a Barbie doll’s head using just 4 simple tools: hair, a felting needle, water, and scissors. This method is fast, easy, and perfect for beginners—or anyone who’s impatient and doesn’t want to spend days rooting.
For this demo, I’ll be working on the Lizette sculpt, one of the bald dolls from the You Create Barbie Basics Kit 1, featuring the easy-swap neck peg system. This technique is actually borrowed from reborn doll artists, who use directional rooting with felting needles to create realistic baby dolls. It’s the quickest, laziest (but most effective!) way to give your Barbie a gorgeous new head of hair without all the stress.
