In this introductory talk I outline the Advaita view that your real Self (Ātman) is Brahman, the limitless ground in which all appearances arise. We unpack Sat-Chit-Ānanda:
Sat (Being/Existence): like the “coin” behind both presence and absence; the deeper is-ness under noise and under silence.
Chit (Consciousness): the distinction between ever-present awareness and reflected consciousness (chidābhāsa), with deep sleep as a key pointer to continuity of awareness.
Ānanda (Bliss): not a passing emotion, but the natural fullness/peace that shines when craving subsides—illustrated with the classic “cake” example.
We also briefly address solipsism (why Advaita isn’t solipsistic) and the common Nisargadatta translation tangle around “awareness” vs “consciousness.”
