On World Science Day, we team up with Astrophysicist Dr. Karan Jani who is an Indian astrophysicist known for his pioneering work in gravitational-wave astronomy. Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, he was part of the international LIGO team that made the first-ever detection of gravitational waves in 2016, confirming Einstein’s century-old theory. Dr. Jani’s research focuses on black holes, neutron stars, and the early universe. He earned his Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology and has been recognized globally for advancing India’s presence in space science. Passionate about education and science communication, he actively inspires young Indians to pursue careers in astrophysics and cosmology.
