This fly pattern imitates a significant transition of the caddisfly as it emerges from its pupa skin to adult in the waters surface film. With the outer-body, the pattern traps air bubbles and imitates air bubbles that fish trigger on.
I took Gary LaFontaine's Sparkle Emerger (a wet fly) and design a pattern that took advantage of that patterns appeal to fish and made it a dry fly.
I've been fishing it for several years now, and it is a must have in your fly box.
