Summary:
In episode 2 of Death Note, titled “Confrontation,” Light continues testing the Death Note and becomes more confident about using it to kill criminals. His actions catch global attention as people start talking about the mysterious deaths. To challenge Kira, a world-famous detective known as L appears on a live TV broadcast. L dares Kira to kill him if he can. Light takes the bait and writes the name “Lind L. Tailor” in the Death Note, causing the man to die on air. However, Light soon realizes it was a setup, the person who died was a criminal pretending to be L. The real L then reveals his voice through the broadcast, saying that Kira has just proven he exists and lives in Japan’s Kanto region. The episode ends with both Light and L recognizing that they’ve found a dangerous rival.
