Completely redesigned for 2025, the Nissan Kicks subcompact crossover is maturing but has yet to entirely abandon the low-cost/fun-size personality attributes that defined the previous generation—which is still sold as the Kicks Play. Featuring altogether new styling inside and out, the Kicks’ exterior has evolved into a more modern interpretation of last year's model with bolder, yet less busy, front and rear fasciae. Although a hint of the original profile remains, the redesigned Kicks is an inch or two larger in every dimension, translating into 1.7 inches more front shoulder room, 1.9 inches more shoulder room, and 0.9 inches more knee room in the rear. The practical cabin gets new infotainment options, including an available 12.3-inch center screen (a 7.0-inch display is standard), and the interior design is updated to match the SUV's exterior aesthetic. Critically, a new 141-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder steps in for the previous model’s frequently strained 1.6-liter engine, and all-wheel drive joins the options list for the first time. So equipped, it’s now a more natural competitor to the Mazda CX-30 and Volkswagen Taos.
