Original Village People cowboy Randy Jones says ex-president Jimmy Carter’s mom once offered him pot at Studio 54.
But he declined.
“I was walking … in the basement to one of the many private rooms and I took a seat,” recalls Jones, who’s penning a memoir, “Glory Days, Disco Nights.” “Someone tapped me on my left shoulder. I turn around and it is Lillian Carter. Lillian offered me the weed, but I just passed it on. I felt like I would be smoking with my grandmother.”
But, “I can’t tell you everything that is in the book. I still have to wait for a few more people to die,” he mused, adding, “I partied with Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli and Beverly Johnson … Michael Jackson would come [to Studio 54] with Brooke Shields — we all shared a booth.”
The North Carolina native-turned-disco star was discovered while performing with Grace Jones.
“I was approached by two men with French accents after a 2 a.m. set. All I was wearing was a leather jockstrap and a cold, gold chain to hold it up. That meeting could have gone either way — but it ended up being a legit proposition,” he said.
