I will do additional videos on this subject to explain how and why I use remote radio. I use and have been using this setup to allow me to play radio remotely while I am away from home. I use software and equipment to connect to and operate my ham equipment while not actually in front of the equipment. I travel a lot, and I use this setup to control the radio and peripherals from a distance. Regulations require that I remain in control of my transmitter and station at all times; if my transmitter gets stuck on transmit while I am 400 miles away in a hotel, I have a way to shut it down. If a thunderstorm is brewing in my area, I can at least do something (by disconnecting the antennas) to 'try' to avoid having my equipment getting fried by lightening. I can even program the computer and equipment to automatically disconnect if I am not quick enough or do forget. If I head out the door but have left the radios and equipment off and disconnected, I can power up the station and connect everything from the remotely from the hotel. Those are just a few things that I use this for. It is a pleasure to have my station far from the rf noise of the city and neighborhoods.
