各位觀眾 大家好 Hi, everybody.
今天要和各位講充電 Today my topic will be "self-refreshing".
汽車走在高速公路上 Cars moving on the freeway
要加油 need refueling.
電子、電腦 Electric appliances such as computers,
電子計算機、電話 adding machines, and telephones,
要充電 need recharging too;
不充電那就不響了、不靈了 otherwise they won't work.
人生也是要充電 Life journey needs refueling too.
有的人說肚子餓了 Some say they are hungry
我要充電 and need refreshing.
太疲倦了 睡個覺 They are too tired; they need to get some sleep,
要充電給他休息一下 and take a rest to restore the strength.
總之一句 To sum up,
什麼東西 everything
它都需要加油 需要原料 will need oiling and refueling;
需要有內涵 things require content
才能發揮力量 to exercise their power.
那麼充電 To the move of self-refreshing,
我們為什麼要充電呢 Why do we have to do so?
第一 Firstly,
學習再學習 for continuous learning.
我們學習知識 We learn things
學習常識 and common sense,
這是不夠的 but this is not enough;
學習道德、人格 we have to learn moral principles and integrity,
學習各種的技能、職業 as well as various skills and trades.
學習 活到老學不了 Learning is an endless effort even if one has grown old.
人生就是在學習 Life is a journey of learning.
第二 發心再發心 Secondly, to make greater vows.
你說我很發心做人 You may say, I make a vow to behave well.
很發心做事 I make a vow to work
很發心待人服務 and offer services to others.
不要自滿 Don't be self-complacent.
發菩提心 Develop your Bodhicitta mind
所謂奉獻喜捨 to sacrifice yourself and benefit others happily.
發心要越發越大 Make a greater vow each time
開發我的心田 and explore your mind-field.
我的土地開發得多 The more lands you exploit,
可以就種很多的田 the more fields you can till
起很多的房子 and build more houses.
心發得越大財富越多 The greater your vow is, the bigger your fortune will be.
第三 慈悲再慈悲 Thirdly, to bear infinite compassion.
你會想到你很慈悲 You may think you are compassionate.
不過慈悲是 In fact, the word refers to
慈是給人的快樂 make people happy in one way,
悲是拔人的痛苦 and relieve people of sufferings in another.
給人的快樂不怕多 These kinds of good deeds
拔除人的痛苦也不怕多 can be the more the better.
所以你有慈悲心 So with this compassionate mind,
我們儘管沒有錢 it doesn't matter even if we are poor and
沒有地位、沒有勢力 without decent walks of life or influence.
但是不能沒有慈悲 Compassion is a must practice.
有了慈悲 And it's not enough
這是不夠的 to bear this quality,
要再增加慈悲 we need to improve its practice.
第四 反省要再反省 Fourthly, to repeat the retrospection.
我們有的人講求道德 Some people lay stress on moralities
講求人格 to refine on their personality.
所以像曾子說的 Like ancient scholar Tseng Shen's saying,
吾日三省吾身 "I repeat self-examination three times a day."
每天都反省一下 We should do the same everyday, asking,
我今天做的都對嗎 Am I right with what I have done today?
今天說的話都對嗎 Am I right with what I have said today?
我今天拿人家的薪水 I receive the salary from the boss
吃人家的飯 and earn my living;
我都做了有夠本嗎 have I worked hard enough?
所以不斷的反省自己的過錯 With repeated reviews of our faults,
必定就會增加自己的 we can definitely increase
道德能量 our moral energies.
所以因此一個人常常的充電 If one can often practice this kind of self-improvement,
必定是一個很俱全的 he will achieve his perfection.
等於汽車加了油 It's like a car refueled,
手電筒加了電 a flashlight recharged.
人生要好好的 Our life too, needs indeed
不斷的充電 continuous refueling
不斷的充電 and continuous recharging.
所以充電這個四點 So these four points of self-improvement

第一點 學習再學習 First, to continue learning practice.
第二點 發心再發心 Second, to make greater vows.
第三點 慈悲再慈悲 Third, to bear infinite compassion.
第四點 反省再反省 Fourth, to repeat the retrospection.
