Fig trees require ongoing maintenance, structural and rejuvenation pruning to maintain optimal health and create the perfect fig tree shape. In this video we visit some of our trunk chopped fig trees for the purpose of rejuvenation pruning, as well as to reduce the height of fig trees in our collection.
The process of pruning a fig tree is simple and pretty straight forward. When it comes to trunk chopping a fig tree, all you need are pruners or a sharp saw and cut at your desired height. Be mindful that you will want to prune your fig tree near the buds that you want to trigger to make up and start growing. An example of this is shown in this video.
