We've been growing garlic for 5 years and have learned a lot over the years. We wanted to share our wealth of garlic growing knowledge with you all and we hope you find this helpful if you are a beginner or if you've been growing garlic for a while.

We should note that we are growing hardneck garlic because we live in a cold climate. We planted our garlic in October and harvested our garlic in July.

We try to grow all of our own food so we can be as self-sufficient as possible. We live in zone 5A in Southern Wisconsin and we live on less than one acre. Our main garden is about 1,000 sq. ft., we have raised beds, and we also grow food on our fence. It's possible to feed your family from your own garden no matter how much space you have.
