This is the first of the series of my lectures at Miranda House. The lectures focus on a typical second year (or 3rd semester) introduction to several variables.
My lectures aim to demystify the definitions and bring out the intuition and geometry behind them There are six lectures in the series. We do not cover a lot of ground. My primary aim is to motivate the students and make them confident of the basics so that they can go through the standard books and follow the lectures of their teachers. So do not have high expectations.
I thank the enthusiastic audience. I thank Dr. Shweta Gandhi and Dr. Daulti Verma for the invitation to give a series of lectures. I thank them and Miranda House for permission to upload an edited version in this channel.
