How To Automate Pitched Trap Snares in Ableton Live Session View

In this tutorial, I show you how to create an automated snare pitching device in Ableton Live's session view so you can replicate the snare fills you typically hear in Trap or Drill beats. The fills are characterized by intricate snare rhythms coupled with a rising and falling in pitch. This makes the snare fills sound more melodic in nature. To do this in arrangement view is easy enough to figure out but in session view it's a bit more involved. The coolest part of this method is that you can improvise with it in a completely freestyle manner (which was my goal). You can turn it on and off on command and it doesn't matter what tempo you play in, it'll always sound right. This means you can play with a live band without using a click track and/or play to a backing track with clicking track if you wish...it's totally flexible.

This has been one of my personal trade secrets for a very long time. It's something I've been asked about numerous times throughout my career. If you are watching this video it means I decided it was time to give this technique to the world.
