Why diversity programs haven't worked – and how to fix them

Workplace diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, while often implemented with the best intentions, don't always produce the results that their advocates desire. According to HKS researchers Iris Bohnet and Siri Chilazi, this is often because practitioners use tools and processes that are not rigorously researched and tested.

In their new book "Make Work Fair," Professor Bohnet and Chilazi argue that in order to achieve the desired outcomes, organizations must allocate the same time and resources to diversity programs as they would to any other facet of their business. And they survey the latest research on DEI policies and chart a path forward for organizations who want to see their employees thrive, no matter their individual background.
