ABOUT THE SESSION
These are the three (and a half) main aspects of the High Jump explained in an understandable manner. The session will give you the tools to implement these techniques with your athletes, from the newbie freshman to the 4-year senior.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Doug Nordquist placed High Jump runner-up at the 1984 U.S. Olympic Trials with his 2nd PR of the day at 7’7”, and later that summer, placed fifth in the 1984 Olympic Games with a jump of 7’6”. He was TAC High Jump champion in 1986 (7’7 ¾” PR) and 1988 (7’8” tied PR). He was the first Goodwill Games Champion at 7’8 ½”. He set his personal record of 7’8 ¾” while finishing runner-up at the TAC National Championships at Cerritos College. He competed for Sonora High School, finishing in a three-way tie for third place at the 1977 CIF California State Meet with a jump of 6’10”. Doug was also the team captain of the 1979 Fullerton College and 1981 Washington State University track teams.
