#GPT4

In this video I discuss how the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) was used to determine whether #GPT4 can adopt other people's point of view and understand their thoughts and feelings at the level of an adolescent.

In previous videos, GPT-4 was shown to be able to do so at the level of a 7 or 8-year-old, but we wanted to take things further.

First, I had GPT-4 take the IRI survey, which measures empathy and perspective-taking abilities.

Based on GPT-4's responses, we received a score that indicated the model's ability to take the perspective of others.

However, we didn't stop there.

In a separate conversation, we trained GPT-4 to act as a very experienced clinical psychologist who used its expertise to determine whether the answers received from the IRI survey had perspective consistency.

This allowed us not only to get a score for GPT-4's perspective-taking abilities but also its own evaluation as to whether the answers were adequately consistent.

This study helps prove a hypothesis that building AI personas in GPT-4 would have consistency in their responses, even though the model needs to perceive the answers from the perspective of the persona.
