Bass finger control

Trying to illustrate how you can play in a "pointed" fashion, with well-defined notes and well-defined note duration, and how to mute or not.
Note that most muting happens in the right hand. Many bass players will mute using the left hand, by just lifting the finger. You can do either way, even both ways at the same time.
Muting with the right hand will be less sloppy, produce no fret buzz and in general be more sharply defined.
But muting with the right hand will also tend to produce unwanted string noise if you have a rather heavy attack as I do, by tapping the string when muting.
Then again, exactly these tapping noises are used in many bass styles as an integrated percussive effect, e.g. in Cuban salsa.
(my timing is a bit off, as I was unable to play for 1 month due to 6 broken ribs and a pneumothorax after a bicycle accident)
