I am often asked how strong the eps foam core hydrofoil wings are. This is some simple demonstrations showing the strength of the standard layup... which is what I consider acceptable for ordinary use. Of course you can always increase the strength with additional glass. Counter to popular beliefs you do not need 5-8 layers of vacuum bagged carbon fiber. A simple hand layup done correctly can make a strong part!
A proper snug fitting carbon fuselage would have been ideal, but I did not have any on hand. So worst case scenario was the loose aluminum bar... which damaged the tunnel as I would suspect.
