This introductory video reviews the primary sources (books) needed to prepare for a Vespers service in the Orthodox church: rubrics book, Horologion, Oktoechos, Menaion, etc. It is geared toward both readers and choir directors or main chanters. Much of the material could be helpful for those serving in any diocese, however the particular context referenced is the OCA (Orthodox Church of America). Even though many people get their hymnographic materials online, already prepared for a particular service, leaders will need to know how to put a service together "from scratch", as the need is likely to arise occasionally.
