This video shows a simple way to replace Transmission Fluid and Final Drive Fluid on a BMW R1200C using some common tools and other items that are easy to obtain. Filler plug, drain plug locations as well as the correct crush washers, fluid capacities and torques are shown in this video and listed below. Recommended intervals for changing the fluids is a bit vague. Since most bikes get fresh transmission oil with every oil change, why not change transmission and final drive at the same time as engine oil. Thanks for watching and for sharing.

Transmission Fill Plug: 18 x 22 mm
Final Drive Fill and Drain Plugs: 14 x 18 mm
Torque Settings:
Engine Oil Drain Plug 32 nM (24 Ft-lb)
Engine Oil Filter 11 nM (97 inch-lbs) (8 ft-lb)
Transmission Oil Drain Plug 55 nM (40 ft-lb)
Transmission Oil Fill Plug 23 nM (17 ft-lb)
Final Drive Oil Fill Plug 23 nM (17 ft-lb)
Final Drive Oil Drain Plug 23 nM (17 ft-lb)
Note Below: Most R1200C models had no crush washers on the transmission drain plugs out of the factory. The service manual reflects this with a recommended torque of 40 ft-lbs on re-installation. They are designed to seal directly against the gearbox housing with no gasket, washer or o-ring.. This type of gearbox drain plug is found on many BMW cars, bikes and Mini Coopers. Example here: https://bit.ly/4hQH81S Some sources recommend replacing with new on each removal for this type of drain plug. The Clymer manual I referenced does not, nor do I. If your transmission drain plug has a crush washer, it was likely the decision of a prior owner, so just match the size you remove, but reduce torque to 25 ft-lbs. If you choose to add a crush washer to a drain plug that had none (I did not but would if it leaked), reduce torque to 25 ft-lbs when re-installing. Some after-market drain plugs have rubber o-ring seals and do not require crush washers. They also require a reduced torque when installing and vendors should provide torque settings for those.
