One Short Tiara emerges from the blue-collar town of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, a place they affectionately call the "Muddy Banks of the Chartiers." This debut album, Rebel, Repent, Rewind, Repeat, showcases a band brimming with raw talent, still searching for its signature sound.

A Band on the Cusp

Formed in the mid-2000s, One Short Tiara set their sights on pop-punk radio airplay. Guitarist and vocalist Birdy describes the album as "an album with some rough edges. We were a band trying to find our voice, and maybe a little uncomfortable with the direction the label was steering us." Taking cues from Green Day, they crafted a shorter, more radio-friendly sound, a stark contrast to their riot grrrl roots.

Growing Pains

While Rebel, Repent, Rewind, Repeat may not have been a mainstream hit, it's a significant chapter in the band's story. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Natalia reflects, "We might have listened to the label a little too much on this record, especially with the production." This experimentation, though commercially unsuccessful, proved to be a valuable learning experience. The raw energy and unrefined sound of Rebel, Repent, Rewind, Repeat laid the groundwork for their later shift towards a heavier, grunge-influenced sound that would bring them critical acclaim.
