In this video, we will discuss about fullerene also known as Buckminsterfullerene. First of all, the preparation of fullerene from graphite in electric arc and lamp black dissolved in benzene has been discussed. Further, the structure, shape and types of bond in fullerene have been explained. Then, the properties of buckminsterfullerene structure have been discussed in detail such as type of rings, number of rings, along with the hybridization of each carbon atom in it. At last, the discussion is on the stability of this allotrope of carbon i.e, buckminsterfullerene.
