In today's Gospel for February 5, Jesus tells His followers that they should be like the salt the earth - people that make everything better around them, just as salt does - and also like the light, shining into the darkness and making the world better by the good deeds they do. Jesus is calling us to be the light of the world, and if we let the light of God's love shine in everything we say and do, the world will become a brighter place.
